Our mission is to advance the professional value of our members while elevating the quality of the built environment throughout the state. Through strategic governmental action and grassroots activism, we guard the interests of the profession, ensuring that Maryland remains sustainable, equitable, and beautifully designed.

Incorporated in 1965 as a 501(c)(6) nonprofit organization, AIA Maryland is managed by a Board of Directors elected from each of the three state chapters – Baltimore, Chesapeake Bay and Potomac Valley.
The Board serves as the strategic steering committee for the profession. They are tasked with upholding the Professional Standards of the industry while executing our state-wide legislative agenda.
By representing a diverse cross-section of practice types and regions, the Board ensures that AIA Maryland remains the definitive Voice of Architecture —advocating for the longevity of our built environment and the continued integrity of architectural licensure across the state.
